Event Priorities
If you have to choose between your events beacuse of schedule confilcs which ones would you choose over the others make a list of all your events in order or importance and give a reason why thats in that place.

Re: Event Priorities
I am planning on doing Dynamic Planet, Ecology, History of Science, Egg-o-naut, and Herpetology
1. History of Science - i will do this no matter what because its the third year and i want to get 1st instead of 2nd
2. Dynamic Planet - i like earth science
3. Ecology - favorite event, but i've never competed at state
4. Herpetology - just doing it so my friend will have someone who knows what their doing
Egg-o-naut won't have any conflicts because its on friday

Re: Event Priorities
When I was in 7th grade i did Crave the Wave for regionals and got pretty good at it. At states I had a conflict with another event, can't remember, so i end up not doing it. Then in 8th grade the same thing happened, but insted at states Crave conflicted with BLG so i had someone else fly it while i was doing Crave. and yes that is legal.

Re: Event Priorities
1. Reach for the Stars - my best event and my first priority.
2. Amphibians and Reptiles - i'll be very mad if there's a scheduling conflict between this and reach for the stars. This is probably my second best event. plus my coach really wants me to get gold in this after an awful result at states last year. [he was convinced i'd get first]
3. Meteorology - When I was in second grade I wanted to be a weatherman. I watched The Weather Channel every day. I know a lot more about weather than most people because of that. I'm not very crazy about the topic this year since it's probably my worst of the three topics.
4. Dynamic Planet - I love earthquakes and volcanoes!!! although I bet two 7th graders are going to get this event
5 & 6 Physics Lab and Fossils - I've always loved physics and fossils seem pretty cool also. I might have to drop one or both of these events and replace them with a study event though in order to have time to do at least some of my building events at states. These both are labs which take the entire event block but study events only take half the event block.
7, 8, 9, 10 - Wright Stuff, Scrambler, Elevated Bridge, Robo-cross - It's my first year doing a building event and i'm tackling four of them! I have no time to give each of these their own event block since my state only has 5-6 blocks so what I plan on doing is finishing my test up in the first 30 mins of the block then running down to the gym and doing my building event. Hopefully i'll have enough time to get all of them done. If not i'll have backups who i'll teach how to test the bridge, fly the plane, and run the scrambler. I also want to try robo-cross after my team completely failed in that event last year. I dont know anything about robots so it will be hard

Re: Event Priorities
From the events i know i know i doing (which are picture this, fossils, e bridge, WIDI)
1st/2nd Fossils, or Picture This, i doing alot of work for these two events i hope they doing conflic
picture this is normally an all day event and fossils is an after noon event i makeing my binder so its useable to just about anyone with half a brain and im also considering adding a 3rd person to our picture this group i hoping like no other that picture this is sign in this year (it wasnt at regionals and it worked out but it just threw me for one) so yeah right now its between those two.
3rd WIDI my partner needs me!!! but i dont practice this event sas much..yeah
4th E bridge i can deal with someone else testing my bridge in fact i never actually tested a balsa thing in compition.

Re: Event Priorities
Hmm, choose between the build events? Since thay got rid of robot ramble, you're asking the impossible. But I shal try.
1st: Probably trajectory cuz launching stuff is fun
2nd: I'm thinking JYC or It's about time. They both look fun and difficult, making them perfect choices.
3rd: Electric Vehicle. Worked on this one last year and hated it. Well, I didn't hate it, but it was boring as opposed to robot ramble.
The rest fall somewhere after that, but I don't care so long as I medal this year. I'm sick of feeling like a loser, just barely placing under being able to medal.

Re: Event Priorities
I just looked at the NY State event schedule, and no matter which team number we are, Herpetology and Fossils conflict.
And thats really bad, cause my friend was gonna be my partner for both.

Re: Event Priorities
It can't be last years, fossils wasnt an event then. They often post the state schedules way before the regional ones. The schedule can be found on newyorkscioly.org
