Re: Ecology
At regional there was NOTHING about deserts, the only thing that I remember is ..... " Isn't the Kangaroo Rat cute"(no points given)....... of course me and my partner said yes.

Re: Ecology
It was 10 stations, 5 minutes apiece, 147 questions total (I don't remember how they were divided up). They were a combination of multiple choice, one-word answers, and math problems. We didn't have a calculator, so we left the math ones for last and then frantically tried to do them by hand... We left most of the math ones blank, but we still got 4th

Re: Ecology
C division was actually probably easier. It was 50 questions with no multiple choice, it was all short answer. The only math on it was doubling time. We got 5th.
There seemed to be more grassland questions than desert questions, which I thought was kinda weird.

Re: Ecology
Geez my states tests were so easy for every event! I finished my ecology test at states in 10 minutes. It was 30 questions all multiple choice or fill-in-blank, everything was basic stuff that you'd learn in science class (7th grade for me). My partner knows everything though, so we might have done well on this.

Re: Ecology
There was one question in the grassland portion that asked what a phraeophyte was (or something like that). I had no clue, I said they are plants that grow from the roots.

Re: Ecology
"Phreatophytes" are plants that have deep root systems adapted to absorb water from more abundant groundwater supplies. I'd think that would be more about deserts than grasslands, so I guess both have aridish climates so it still applies.

Re: Ecology
Yeah, we had more grasslands than deserts too. Fortunately, a lot of them could be figured out with common sense even though we barely studied grasslands (which of these is a tall grassland... and it gave you the average height of each species of grass in each one... only tricky part on that question was that one of them had all the heights given in inches, one in centimeters, and one in meters, so you had to read the chart carefully).gneissisnice wrote:C division was actually probably easier.
