Cautery Pen for trimming rotor film
Coach Chuck or Brian,
Could you provide a link to the cautery pens that are used to trim the rotor film?

Re: Cautery Pen for trimming rotor film
I have used a cautery from Indoor Free Flight supply, such as https://www.indoorffsupply.com/shop/bat ... -pen-9r263 for $19. You can find similar on Amazon or in a craft store.
However, I no longer use a cautery. This variable temperature rechargeable soldering iron gives far more control: https://www.indoorffsupply.com/shop/cor ... ering-iron. You may find the same thing on Amazon. The key is continuous digital temperature control, where some other cordless irons have three vague temperature settings. It is a bit more at $35, but worth it.
If you are doing just SO, it may not be worth it. Instead you could use a corded soldering iron, though variable temperature really helps to not over heat. But if you have a soldering iron around, it may be the expedient answer.
Having top end tools is always nice, and getting a clean trim on your covering makes the whole build look better. The ragged edges may impact duration slightly (drag), though I doubt it is a huge impact.
