Re: New York 2020
That really is ridiculous. Hopefully some exception can be made (I guess you can consider this extenuating circumstances??)
Very sad to hear though. I wonder if other schools have the same problem?

Re: New York 2020
Well, today we got a letter from the Vice President of New York State Science Olympiad that went out to all coaches, saying that they still plan on having the state tournament on March 13th and 14th, however the outcome of a meeting that they will be having this upcoming Sunday will give us the final decision. If the state competition is still happening, there is no possible way I can go, as this happened to our school one time before a couple of years ago due to weather where we were told by the district that we could not go to the competition, we said we would drive there individually, and they completely denied us that, threatening for suspensions and what not. RIP the dream

Re: New York 2020
Poll results part 2! There have only been 6 more submissions, and no major shakeups, but here they are anyway: (31 total votes)
1. Ward Melville High School - 294, 16 first place votes
2. Columbia High School - 288, 14 first place votes
3. Syosset High School - 243
4. Fayetteville-Manlius High School - 207, 1 first place vote
5. Stuyvesant High School - 197
6. Kellenberg Memorial High School - 187
7. The Mount Academy - 151
8. Great Neck South High School - 96
9. Staten Island Technical High School - 54
10. Townsend Harris High School - 38
Also receiving votes: Pittsford Sutherland High School (6), Brooklyn Technical High School (1), Chaminade High School (1), Collegiate School (1), Jericho High School (1), Scarsdale High School (1), Spackenkill High School (1)
The average predicted score for the first place team is 130.43.
Interestingly, almost team has the most votes for their placement. So like, Syosset has the most 3rd place votes, Kellenberg has the most 6th place votes, Great Neck South has the most 8th place votes, etc. The only exception to this is Ward Melville, which has the most 1st and 2nd place votes.
One more week to submit predictions, and more importantly, one more week until states! I still haven’t submitted mine lol but when (maybe it’s better to say if lol) I do I’ll post them on forums with explanations. Here is the link to the submission form: https://forms.gle/hX89eipM3WM4JjZ88

Good luck to everyone! I hope to see more submissions in our final week. (As well as my own hopefully haha)
I’m super sorry to hear your team can’t go, and as much as I hope states is held next weekend, I hope somehow your team can make it, and that no other teams suffer the same fate.

Re: New York 2020
Good luck to everyone participating in tomorrow's set of regional tournaments, and good luck to those heading to states next weekend!
(And I hope your team can somehow find a way to make it, Raesow)

I was just told that the Lower Hudson Valley Div B Regional has been cancelled. The intention is to reschedule but they don’t have a date yet.

Re: New York 2020
Oh that's not good. Sorry to hear that for all who are participating. Where did you get this information from?
Is the cancellation due to COVID-19 (coronavirus)?

I was planning to help judge there. I believe it was due to COVID-19 but I don’t have that confirmed.

Okay, thanks. Hoping that this will be worked out, of course.Caesar wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 2:37 pmI was planning to help judge there. I believe it was due to COVID-19 but I don’t have that confirmed.

Re: New York 2020
It's super disappointing to hear about the teams that aren't being allowed to go. Is there any chance your county will lift the ban/allow you to go if you don't take a school bus so it's not "school sponsored"?

Re: New York 2020
I had actually thought about this and asked my coach about it, however, I believe that because of the circumstances (at least in my scenario) I would be temporarily suspended for going, whether it is due to disobeying the rules set or the possibility tghat I would get the coronavirus.
