Re: Science Olympiad Events 2019-2020
For MTV in division B do you think we’ll have to go backwards like this year or will it be similar to battery buggy 2018 where we just went straight and stoped?
2018-19 Events: Amazing Mechatronic
, Battery Buggy
, ELG,
Density Lab,

When will robo-cross be coming. I was not yet a Scioly competitor when it came out, but it sounds interesting! So does wind power, wheeled vehicle, and bio-process lab. This year, I did all testing events. I want to do more building next yearUnome wrote:Expected changes:
- A&P returns to whatever systems it had in 2016
- Herpetology -> Ornithology
- Water Quality focus changes to saltwater or estuaries, something like that
- Dynamic Planet topic probably changes to Freshwater
- Astronomy topic will change, details unknown but I expect star and planet formation may return
- Meteorology topic changes to Severe Storms
- Solar System -> Reach for the Stars
- Thermodynamics -> Simple Machines (B)/Compound Machines (C)
- Potions and Poisons -> Can't Judge A Powder
- Chemistry Lab topic probably becomes Acids and Bases, & Aqueous Solutions
- Battery Buggy -> Mousetrap Vehicle
- Mousetrap Vehicle -> Gravity Vehicle
- Mission Possible -> probably Robot Arm
- Mystery Architecture and Fermi Questions will almost certainly rotate out, but I have no idea what will replace them

Just want to note that that post by Unome is unedited...I haven't checked the rest of the thread yet, but the first or second post should probably be edited if anyone has found any new conclusions.PeriodicPenguins82 wrote: When will robo-cross be coming. I'll tip that some of the past cycles have been predicted either by being around long enough to explicitly hear what the cycles are (they've been noted in past iterations of this thread) or by predicting based off of https://scioly.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page-> (going to "Past Events") https://scioly.org/wiki/index.php/Compr ... nt_Listing. Also, sometimes people can figure out new rotations based on the nationals trial events whether there might be a new event in rotation.

Re: Science Olympiad Events 2019-2020
At past SOSIs, they've also said they've been trending toward shying away from robotics events as they present more of a cost barrier to newer / less funded teams, so I'm not sure robo cross or robot arm are necessarily returning. We should find out what they're thinking whenever they release the draft schedule for this year's SOSI, any day now.

While I agree with you on Robo Cross, I believe the likelihood of Robot Arm returning is almost certain, as it was discussed in the SOSI registration, as well as that it and Mission have an established rotation.SOPomo wrote:At past SOSIs, they've also said they've been trending toward shying away from robotics events as they present more of a cost barrier to newer / less funded teams, so I'm not sure robo cross or robot arm are necessarily returning.
