Help on new concept, changes to this year vs last year

Post by gchsrams »

Hello, this is my second year in mousetrap vehicle. I haven't really done any building events, so I'm pretty inexperienced. I built my mousetrap vehicle frame, but I remembered I had to make the vehicle curve on the track. I have no clue where to start with this, as I see other forum solutions related to another build event. I would appreciate some help and tips in order to create a steering mechanism.

It looks like plastic calipers are going to be a popular method, though there are probably other solutions. I don't think there is a widely accepted method right now - in 2017 for Electric Vehicle, calipers weren't widely known until March.

Hi, I just got switched into this event for my team and am looking for solutions to handle the new track this year that requires turning the vehicle. Is the basic idea that using a caliper would allow adjusting the length between wheels from one side of the vehicle, and therefore cause the vehicle to turn a specific radius due to skewed balance? How exactly would the caliper be attached to do this?
