yeah ofc! if you can get a motor thats pretty long with enough torque to have a slow climb but long times, you should be in a pretty good spot. also try bringing your front post down on the wing to reduce climb. you have to try each and every combination to get the right stuff for your plane. dont forget the bonuses either, theyre not half bad and could really boost your comp scores.sciencegirl03 wrote:At first(not trimmed), it wasn't rising at all. Hey everyone!
I'm new to this event and kinda confused... I've built the freedom flight kit, but when I try to launch, the plane doesn't rise much if at all. Do I simply need more winds or is there something I'm missing? I feel like the rubber is pretty close to snapping though yet the plane still doesn't go up.
Also, are there any tips on releasing the plane? Should I walk it or just simply let it go?

Is wing incidence set per the plan to 5/32” taller front wing post (measured with wing installed using a fixed reference like top of motor stick)? Stab incidence per plan at 1/32” positive? Left panel wing washin per plan? Left stab panel per plan? Stabilizer tilt per plan?
Is flying in 20-25 ft. circles? Any more details?

so yeah what rubber thickness are you using? how many winds? what bjt said must be a bit confusing so let me try to explain. the front carbon fiber post for the wing should go up more, do it by millimeters. you want to keep winds motors and everything else the same except the front wing post. if you release it by holding the plane towards the front of the motor stick, letting a few winds out and then giving it a light push ( do NOT throw it, just a slight flick ), you should be able to tell if there's a stall within the first few seconds of the flight. if so, bring the post down a bit and try again. let me know if this helps

If you are referring to the FF chinook kit, from what I remember those props are gigantic in scale to the plane. I have been having some difficulty with the FF kit. When the instructions say to crumple the mylar into a ball to make it equally crinkled I do so. But when I uncrumple the mylar then it always creates a rip or tear, rendering the piece useless, so I was wondering if anyone else had this issue or knew of a solution.

You have to be very delicate and light with it. I've torn multiple pieces just because I was too rough with it, or was trying to rush the process. lol look at you being not gentle (hehe). you have to make sure your hands are clean and not sweaty too. rolling it very gently into a ball without compressing it also gets the job done. mylaring is one of the most difficult parts of the building process. take your time there's to need to rush especially when cutting/ burning the mylar.CrayolaCrayon wrote:You have to be very delicate and light with it. One of my friends tried using it. The propeller was too big, and the rubber band was not powerful enough to spin the propeller fast enough for the plane to fly. I'd recommend against it.Rossyspsce wrote:has anyone tried using the props from heli last year as a ws prop?
