No, but I would imagine that they'd be a lot less durable for sure.

Re: Wright Stuff C
Any success with flaring props? I trimmed mine down to the recommended size and sanded. While it does control the height, in my case- too much. Further trimming made it go wild! Not even a circular path at the start. I must have sanded to different thicknesses. Any luck with it?

Sciencegirl,
Good job testing flaring props. Keep up the good work.
Keep in mind that pretty much 100% of AMA low ceiling national records and national champions use flaring propellers (for classes that allow them).

Re: Wright Stuff C
yeah one thing though, when you say it controlled height, how much of a change was it? maybe you should get another prop and trim it slightly less than the rec. size. go in very very small increments until you think it's at its peak performance. always start with more than less and try to be more safe than sorry if you're on a budget. you want to cut straight across when trimming, try not to sand if you don't have to. it tends to make things uneven. try putting a motor on the plane with few winds and just hold it out to see if it's wobbling. if it is, identify which side is and sand it down. side note, i'm a freshman and haven't done any other flight event with this so i can't help with helicopters lol.sciencegirl03 wrote:Any success with flaring props? it's not about the medals; go out there and have fun. make progress, learn a few things and have one heck of a time; that's all that matters.

I don't know how that's possible.sciencegirl03 wrote:Rossyspsce wrote:YeahCrayolaCrayon wrote:

Re: Wright Stuff C
At first(not trimmed), it wasn't rising at all. At the FF suggested trim level, it brought the height down about 5-6 feet. Nice flight, but the times were not as good. I could have used a different rubber and got a better time at the same height. What I'm looking for is the high times in a lower ceiling. Idk if that's possible.klastyioer wrote:yeah one thing though, when you say it controlled height, how much of a change was it? maybe you should get another prop and trim it slightly less than the rec. size. go in very very small increments until you think it's at its peak performance. always start with more than less and try to be more safe than sorry if you're on a budget. you want to cut straight across when trimming, try not to sand if you don't have to. it tends to make things uneven. try putting a motor on the plane with few winds and just hold it out to see if it's wobbling. if it is, identify which side is and sand it down. side note, i'm a freshman and haven't done any other flight event with this so i can't help with helicopters lol.sciencegirl03 wrote:Any success with flaring props? Will try your suggestion of trimming a little at a time. Thanks!

Re: Wright Stuff C
Wouldn't it be possible to take the prop that spirals the way you want, whoever direction the ikara prop spirals, and flip the hook to the other side?CrayolaCrayon wrote:I don't know how that's possible.sciencegirl03 wrote:Rossyspsce wrote: Yeah
