I play the erhu. Ostensibly that means that I can play other instruments from the huqin family but I have never played any of the 4 stringed sihu varieties. I've also started lessons on the pipa.

I play in a post-hardcore steam punk band called The F***ing Opium War, so if we ever make it big you should buy our albums :D . The band consists of a pipe organ, piano, gong, kit drums, guitar, string bass, and erhu (that's me!). It is basically focused on exploring the sound that would have been the hardcore movement had its aural aesthetic been derived from the din of the industrial revolution and electricity had never been discovered.

That's crazy! Every other person that I know that plays the erhu is over 50. I picked it up on a family trip to San Francisco when I heard an old guy (probably 70+) playing it. I instantly fell in love.

i play piano and "percussion". By percussion, i dont mean snare, cause i forgot how to do a drum roll =)/ i play mostly mallets (xylophone, bells, stuff like that), but i sometimes get stuck with stuff like bass drum or crash cymbals (trust me, you never want to play the crash cymbals. They're boring as pigeon and they hurt your hand after a while).

Haha, exactly the same for me! Cymbals are actually surprisingly difficult to play well...like tambourine and triangle. I play mainly mallets and auxiliary percussion. And I play handbells too, but those don't really count...
