Re: 2018 National Tournament: Colorado State University
If you want to ship a tower, you could try shipping it on your construction jig.
Build a sturdy plywood box a little larger than your tower. Bolt the jig to the base of the box. Perhaps fix the top as well. You want the box + jig to form one rigid body, with an air gap between the tower and the box so the tower isn't pressing on anything.

I'm surprised how many people are shipping. I'm from NY and my parents are driving our tech events.

The prize list has been posted.
Unfortunately we still don't have anything on event locations, event signups, the Expo, etc...

It's 3 weeks until nationals, and they still haven't been posted
.
Anyone know when they were posted last year?
EDIT: Never mind! They are on the website.

On our team, two of our coaches are driving all of the tech events in a van from NY. I didn't even know shipping was a thing.CMS AC wrote:Shipping builds???????? Won't stuff break?

CMS AC:
Are you seeing room information (height, size) for WS and Heli? I am not seeing that (though I do see that it is in Moby Aux Gym).

Here's the link:
https://coloradoscienceolympiad.org/nat ... hedule.pdf
It's in the "Auxillary Gym" (Moby Auxillary or some other auxillary gym?) and Moby C-wing. Why 2 places, idk.

I saw that, but nothing indicates room dimensions, critical to setting up turn radius and flying height. These are supposed to be announced prior to competition, but rules do not say how much prior.
Thanks

The Aux Gym is located within the C-wing of the Moby Arena complex.CMS AC wrote:Here's the link:

Horizontal dimensions can be determined without too much trouble. Height is harder, but can be estimated to within 5 feet. As far as I am aware the dimensions aren't explicitly posted anywhere on the university website.coachchuckaahs wrote:I saw that, but nothing indicates room dimensions, critical to setting up turn radius and flying height. Edit: Might as well, I wanted to calculate it anyway. The Aux Gym is 120 ft by 200 ft. The height is approximately 20-25 ft, I suspect toward the lower end of the range (but am not certain).
