I could be wrong but I think this might fall under rule 3i, which states that all vehicle parts must move as a whole.JonB wrote:PM2017 wrote:Just had an idea, but don't know how feasible it is.
Do you think its possible to slide the cup the 3 meters, without it leaving the floor, and without having the vehicle go with it, in order to bypass having to go forward then reverse?
I feel that would violate the spirit of the rules and competition but in no way is that official.

Vinyl tubing works great with a good square cut and either nylon or teflon washer of a close fit. You can stretch vinyl by dipping it into hot water and quickly put it on your axle.PM2017 wrote:Does anyone know of a lighter replacement for axle collars?

Thanks. (What's a square cut? Is that just a 90 degree cut?)retired1 wrote:Vinyl tubing works great with a good square cut and either nylon or teflon washer of a close fit. I think they mean just to make sure that the cut is perpendicular to the edge of the tubing, if that makes sense.PM2017 wrote:Thanks. (What's a square cut? Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
I think it really depends on the proctor, but it's iffy because the description says that the vehicle should reverse. In any case, it'll be tough to find mousetraps with enough force to push the cup that far that still fit the specs.Alex-RCHS wrote:I could be wrong but I think this might fall under rule 3i, which states that all vehicle parts must move as a whole.JonB wrote:PM2017 wrote:Just had an idea, but don't know how feasible it is.

^^Seconded. Additionally, no, I do not think its possible given the parameters of the rules such a device would have to fit within.JonB wrote:PM2017 wrote:Just had an idea, but don't know how feasible it is.

Re: Mousetrap Vehicle C
This is a very beginner question, but since I just found that we can't cut the mousetrap, how can I attach the rod to the mousetrap?

Zip ties have worked well for me, though they're probably not the best option out there.cubes wrote:This is a very beginner question, but since I just found that we can't cut the mousetrap, how can I attach the rod to the mousetrap?
