Re: Thermodynamics B/C
Sorry about this, its probably extremely repetitive but is the use of aerogels allowed.

Unome...has time to look up specific rules...doesn't have time to simply types yesUnome wrote:See General Rule 1, and rule 3.a.JLu2358 wrote:Sorry about this, its probably extremely repetitive but is the use of aerogels allowed.

Re: Thermodynamics B/C
I actually have the rule for this specific situation memorized - allowed materials are rule 3.a, and have been so in this event every year it has existed.WhatScience? wrote:Unome...has time to look up specific rules...doesn't have time to simply types yesUnome wrote:See General Rule 1, and rule 3.a.JLu2358 wrote:Sorry about this, its probably extremely repetitive but is the use of aerogels allowed.
Also, I'm not going to type "yes" when I can teach someone how to read the rules better.

Re: Thermodynamics B/C
They are allowed under rule 3a (as the great Unome kindly stated for us), but as most aerogels are a combination of aerogel and fiberglass (including blanket forms), they are not allowed, fiberglass being a banned material. Insulation factor actually isn't that important; it's the prediction score and test that matter.JLu2358 wrote:Sorry about this, its probably extremely repetitive but is the use of aerogels allowed.

Rest In Peace space loft. Because of the chance of fiberglass, I’d recommend bringing an SDS of your aerogel stapled to your graphs to show it is clean.JoeyC wrote:They are allowed under rule 3a (as the great Unome kindly stated for us), but as most aerogels are a combination of aerogel and fiberglass (including blanket forms), they are not allowed, fiberglass being a banned material. Great find! hmmm it seems to contain fiberglass so I guess that won't work. ha that is an insane amount of material. 39 people watching? wow
