Is it illegal to, for ex, use an ev3 brick to recieve a infared signal and play the final action.

I was confused as it never stated anything in the rules about not being able to use a object in multiple actions. The only rule possible validating this would the wording "each unique action"

Thanks
See the FAQ on this. the ev3 brick can only be used in one transfer. i.e. receiving the infrared and playing the final action

Any updates on fixing the spreadsheet scoring system? I think it is vital that this gets done before the major invitationals in January (MIT, Golden Gate?) and February (Solon, Upenn, etc) because I the 0-70? points gained from size will make a big difference in score among the top teams.

Personally, I have not emailed anyone about the subject. Anyone else?

Email was sent to Patrick Chalker about a week ago.

If I put an action on my ALS but my device does not do that. Will I get a penalty?

It depends. Typically, if your device doesn't have that action at all, you won't get the points for 5.b.iii. If an action fails and you have to manually correct it (since failing to manipulate it to continue operation could trigger the "obvious stalling" clause of 4.h), you will be assessed the touch penalty (6.e) and you won't get the points for any actions that don't complete autonomously, but you should still receive the points for 5.b.iii since it specifies "intended" actions.

Thanks for pinging me. Sorry I haven't been checking the Mission forum recently. The scoresheet is now updated on https://www.soinc.org/scoresheets

Don't hesitate to let me know if y'all find anything else! Thanks!

What if you put the action in the ALS but the device skips that action and continues with the next one will you get a penalty? For example for the coin flip task. what if you flip it from heads to heads. that does not follow the ALS. Will you get a penalty for that because it was supposed to flip from heads to tails?

My basic plan is to attach the magnet to a metal piece. When the magnet is removed, the metal piece will fall onto a tape recorder, pushing the play button. The tape recorder will then play the phrase "The End". Is this ok? Am I violating any rules?

That plan in itself doesn't violate any rules! How you execute it (for example, what batteries you use, how you pull off the magnet etc) might, but there's nothing illegal with what you described :D

This is not the place for official clarifications, yadda yadda, but there is really no room for doubt on this issue. Rule 5.b.iii clearly states that the bonus is awarded for accuracy in intended actions. If the machine does not do what it is supposed to do, you still get the bonus.
