Re: Invasive Species B/C
Can anyone please give information about the amount of ecology of invasive species tests they have taken? Such as invasive species rules (e.g. 10% rule) and ranging to diversity levels. I want to know if I should put overly stuff in my binder for an upcoming tourney. Thanks!

Usually, the tests will have like one station devoted to that and/or some questions mixed in with another station, but I did go to one tournaments where general info questions made up about 2/3 of the test, but you probably won't run into that
Just have the handout from the official scioly website and whatever extra info you find

Re: Invasive Species B/C
Hello, everyone! I came across something that confused me when reviewing the Austin Regional Test.
I know that the Tree-of-heaven possesses a schizocarp during some months, but I also saw that the fruit type that the Tree-of-Heaven has is called a samara. I don't have a great enough botanical knowledge to know if these can coexist. Is schizocarp simply a more general term for the bearing of this tree? Did I find incorrect information? Thanks!
If you need clarification on the question please feel free to let me know.

Hello!! Just a quick question here. How do you tell apart "Hairy Whitetop" and "Whitetop"? I am trying to compare them but found no consistent difference. thanks!

The leaves of Hairy Whitetop are clasping, but Whitetop's are not. That's a big difference I think. But only if leaves are given.als9126 wrote:Hello!! Just a quick question here. Re: Invasive Species B/C
Does clasping mean it curls around the stem?
As far as I know, a samara describes a sort of dry, winged fruit like the kind found on tree of heaven. I haven't heard that it's a schizocarp, but maybe it's possible to have both?JoJoKeKe wrote:Hello, everyone! I came across something that confused me when reviewing the Austin Regional Test.

Just curious, what is the thickness of your binder? I have a 2 inch binder, and it currently weighs 5.5 pounds nearly full (I just had to check after reading this). A lot of the weight is probably sheet protectors tho. From what I've seen, a lot of teams are going for either gigantic 3-4 inch binders or really skinny 1-1.5 inch ones. Either way that makes me scared xD.Jaol wrote:Yay! My partner and I's combined binder weighs a solid 5 pounds. Wow. even I didn't expect that!
