What are your opinions about rigid vs. flexible pendulums? I had pretty much discounted the idea of a string pendulum, but I saw a bunch of them at the regional at according to the rumor mill some of them did very well. We didn't test any, but I assumed that over longer time spans the rigid pendulum would be more reliable. Thoughts? Any of you getting good 5 minute numbers with string?

Re: It's about time
We tried both rigid arms and strings and the only issue with the string is that it often started turning as it swung and it would eventually hit something.

Sample Problems
Is there any sample or practice problems? I was hoping for a website or something, but really anything is good.

Re: It's about time
I have a question about something I can or cannot use on my device. Is there someone I can pm to ask about it? (i don't want to give away the idea)

Re: It's about time
You can pm anyone you want to, but no one here can do more than give you an opinion. You should contact the tournament organizers. Andwhat could possibly be secret about a clock?
Re: It's about time
Generally, questions must be about the rules, not about your device. If you don't understand the rules, you can ask a question about what they mean but, you may not ask questions about whether or not your device complies with the rules (they will not be answered). Compliance with the rules is part of the competitio0n and prejudging your device could give you an unfair advantage over others. All questions and answers are public knowledge, so if it's a secret, don't divulge it in a question. Ask the question about the rules instead of the device.

Okay then... I'll just ask a question about the rules then. The rules say that "Commercial counters, timepieces or parts of either are not allowed." Can you give me an example of a commercial counter/timepiece? I'm not sure if what I want to use is legal. It's basically a device that I will put on my water clock that regulates the flow of water.

Items such as stopwatches, stroke counters, triple beam balance, watch, cell phone, calculator, etc.
If you are unsure, why ask it in the form of a question to the national site.
