This is kind of picky, but I try to read most of the useful stuff on the site, so I try to avoid red flasks. I don't bother to read the Helicopter thread because it has a ton of info, and I don't do the event. So I let that one flask stay red. However, it also makes the main building event thread also turn red, so I always click to go to the builder forum, only to realize that the helicopters post was the reason for the red flasks. I realize that the Helicopter forum is a sub forum of the building event forum, but I would prefer if a sub forum red flask did not turn the main builder flask red. The point of the red flasks on the home page is to alert the user to the unread posts. Having a sub forum trigger the builder forum and the individual event forum seems redundant and misleading if the sub-forums are also displayed on the main page.

I don't understand why you would associate 'red flasks' with "nonuseful stuff'. 'Why don't you just use the 'view new posts' or 'mark forums read' link at the top to rectify this situation?

What he means is that stuff in the helicopter subforum is useless to him, so he would prefer if he didn't have to waste his time going into the building events forum, then trying to find the red flask for him, only to realize that helicopter was causing it all along.

Well there is really no way for this to be implimented.
The new post color is controled by the underlying code of PHPBB3 which would be a pain to get working without spending a ton of time which isn't worth the time due to the fact that you can just click either the new posts list on the main page or open the build event thread and seeing if one of your events has new posts or just subscribe to your threads if you want to get notified when there is a new post
