Re: Worst books
I hated Twiight too. I somehow forced myself to finish the first book (with high reluctance), but I couldn't get far into the second. Twilight is really sappy and stupid.

Re: Worst books
I do not understand why people are obsessed with Twilight. The worst book I've read has to be Breathing Underwater. I think that the message of the book is very powerful, but the overall storyline is too drawn out and upsetting. No sense of closure, either.
By the way, has anyone read the Artemis Fowl series? Those books are amazing.

Eh, I said it before, I think it kinda started going downhill after a while.QuantumLeaper wrote:I do not understand why people are obsessed with Twilight. The 1st was great, the 2nd and 3rd were meh, I liked the 4th and 5th, and the 6th was absolutely terrible. I haven't read the latest one yet (though it's been out for a while), but I hope it's better than The Time Paradox, that was just bad.

Re: Worst books
There's seems to be a lot of hate towards the Twilight (I'm also disgusted by it).
But in my opinion, I hate any book I'm forced to read in school. So I'm in 7th grade right now, and so far, I've had to read Beowulf and A Christmas Carol. Both, I guess, are somewhat okay, but what i really hate is the constant nights I had to stay up just making sure I understand each chapter (on in this case, each stave). This may not seem that hard, but when you have the most difficult English teacher in the world, it's gets pretty challenging (prelude to death, back me up here).
But my answer to the question: The Battle of the Red Hot Pepper Weenies. I read this about two years ago and in my opinion, it shouldn't even be considered a book. It's just a bunch of stupid tiny short stories about how two kids have like face-off to see who can withstand the hottest pepper.
That, and Life in a Medieval Castle. This was incredibly boring.

I go to school at Cerro Villa MS. A neighboring school of El Rancho Charter, a once dominating science olympiad team. Rebecca Black goes to El Rancho. It's Friday everyday there.

I read Beowulf and I loved it. I can see how one might dislike it though.Insert Name Here wrote:There's seems to be a lot of hate towards the Twilight (I'm also disgusted by it).![]()

Re: Worst books
Most people do hate books their forced to read for school. Whenever we read a book that might be promising, I try to read it beforehand, so it won't be as bad when we read it in school. Like 1984, we read that senior year, but I'm planning on reading it over the summer.
1984 is actually fun in senior year, though, as nearly the entire senior class plays a game to go along with it. A handful of students are the thought police, who discreetly try to catch the other seniors committing crimes against the party (breaking rules made-up for the game like, "no gum in class" or, everyday when you get into class you must say "I am eager to learn today".) It's really fun, I can't wait to play it senior year.

Re: Worst books
That's really cool! I really enjoyed that book as well. I often don't like reading books assigned in class but I've liked every book but one that we've read in AP English this year, which is rare for me.zyzzyva98 wrote:Most people do hate books their forced to read for school. Re: Worst books
I am going to read that this summer as well, because in my class we substituted 1984 (good book) with The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao (meh, on the bad side, book).
I will also say that Wuthering Heights is a TERRIBLE book.

Re: Worst books
My mom rented the first Artemis Fowl as a book on tape. LOVED it, but I hate that Artemis won. Oh, and we also rented The Arctic Incident as just a book. I thought that one was just as good, except the whole "teaming up" thing was kind of cheesy.QuantumLeaper wrote:I do not understand why people are obsessed with Twilight. And I LOVE Lord of the Rings; I've read it 8 times and seen the movies about 5,000,000,000,000,000 times.

Worst book I've ever read was Harriet the Spy.

Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy is an awful book. I was forced to read it.
