regardless of what i've said before...
i don't mean to sound pessimistic, but i think bala cynwyd just doesn't have a good shot at going to nats. now, i have no right to judge my entire team because i can't always know how well everyone knows their events, but it's just what i'm guessing based on how we did before. hopefully, we can scale these summits and overcome our problems.

In other news, States for NY is dangerously close (<4 weeks) and this year it can be anyone's title.
Anyone named Fayetteville-Manlius or Ward Melville that is.

I'm kidding of course, I'm sure there are plenty of other good teams that can challenge those two powerhouses.
The New York three-team battle sounds very similar to the battle for states in Ohio. Three teams - Centerville, Solon, and Mentor always battle for making nationals. It's similar to F-M, Spackenkill, and Ward-Melville, in a way. Also, like New York, there are a lot of competitive teams that can challenge the "Big 3" for placings in individual events.

From what I've heard, NY's state tournament is two-day? That's quite interesting.

States for division C in NY is on March 18-19, I think.

I definitely hope so, although this year a bunch of seventh and eighth graders just joined, and they are completely new, I don't know if we have what it takes. We did beat a lot of the other teams at regionals and states by a lot of points, though.

It's one thing for a tournament to accommodate 54 or 37 teams + spectators it's quite another to accommodate 91 teams + spectators. Just counting the 15 people on each team who would be competing, that's 1,365 people for a the organizers to worry about. The actual number of people at that tournament would probably be 2-3 maybe ever 4 times that. According to Wikipedia, West Point, where the the C competition is held, has an undergraduate population of 4,487. You can see that it would be quite difficult for a combined tournament to happen in NY due to the large population of SO teams in the state (4 times the number of SO teams in Kansas).
