Re: Flight Trimming
I feel like having some weight hanging below the copter would help eliminate and excess pendulum like movments as well as excess oscillation

Re: Flight Trimming
I build my rotor directly on the motor stick, so now that it is attached, the thickness of the motor stick prevents me from getting an accurate representation of how balanced the rotor is... How can I be sure that my fixed rotor is balanced?

Re: Flight Trimming
Well first off, you can build the motor stick out of two 1/8 strips, placed adjacent to each other with a little distance in between, glued together with connector pieces at top and bottom. So basically wat im saying is, the rubber will be attached to the hooks in between the two sticks. This way, when you attach the fixed rotor, you can place it in a certain way that you know the stick is balanced, and that the free motor will be along the same axis as the fixed, so that both are fairly well balanced. Hope i helped!
Also, my glide down from the peak of the flight seems to be the problem, it happens way to fast. I think the problem is that there is just so much side to side movement, that when it starts to glide down it almost starts to go into a nose dive. Any help?

So you're saying two 1/8 x 1/8 square pieces?lllazar wrote:Well first off, you can build the motor stick out of two 1/8 strips, placed adjacent to each other with a little distance in between, glued together with connector pieces at top and bottom. Re: Flight Trimming
Is that strong enough to support a would 3/16 rubber motor? I didn't think it would have the necessary strength...lllazar wrote:Exactly.

Re: Flight Trimming
Right now my motor stick is 5/16 x 3/16, made of lightish balsa. I'll try the split motorstick thing.

Re: Flight Trimming
See, I'm considering that, because it will make balance so much easier, but I think most of my wood is too wide and dense for it, and I don't have time/motivation to buy more. Any of you guys tried that sort of thing (both rotors attached to the rubber at opposite ends of the motor stick), but with a single stick, and both rotors on the same axis (if that makes sens)? I think I've seen it somewhere... Either way, I'm sort of scared to try because it seems like it might not be strong enough... but I'm probably just being silly.illusionist wrote:Right now my motor stick is 5/16 x 3/16, made of lightish balsa. Re: Flight Trimming
If BOTH rotors are spinning, the motor stick will be quite stationary. So it won't be oscillating so much, which is honestly wat really causes the balance problems.
