What did you like about the lightning thief, and what did you dislike about great expectations? And yes, I am only in the same genus. I am a species yet to be discovered, so if you look up the things in the genus of humans, you will not find me there. :(

I still mean no offense, contrary to some peoples believes, but when I do not mean offense, I do not intend to offend anyone...so there is evidence now that I am a liar, and (I still meant NO offense) I took offense from the comment that complained about me trying to say something to not offend anyone, so I suppose that we are both Hippocrates. Oh, well. I am sorry, can anyone ever forgive me?
1. *all right, and The Lightning Thief got me interested in Greek mythology, which I now adore. Great Expectations was... long-winded, to say the least.
2. *to what some people believe, and as z said, you can't just say "oh, your reading level is not up to par" to a group of smart people and expect nobody to be offended. You may have meant no offense, but the fact is that it was very offensive.
3. *hypocrites and yes, if you stop behaving so arrogantly.

Funnily enough, that's one of the few books I've tried to read I've never been able to finish. :P

Also, looking back, Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C. Clarke was disappointingly dull.

Bachelor Girl and Jacob I Have Loved are the only two books in my memory that I've thrown down in disgust...

I read speak my freshman year for class. It may have been the worst I've ever read. I was infuriated from beginning to end.

One type of book that throws me into a rage is books without quotation marks- or any punctuation marks for that matter (see Blindness or The Road). Often, though, they make up for it with a good plot. But I still can't stand authors who don't adhere to the common laws of writing.

Ugh, that reminds me of this one book I had to read for Lit Circles in 7th grade. I think it was titled Blood Runs Deep or something like that (it was about the Civil War, anyways). Horrible grammar/copyediting, very flat characters, multiple points of view (which might not have been so bad, except for the fact that it didn't tell you when the PoV switched characters, leading to me being very confused and having to read many chapters over again), in general, just a terrible book.
