For instance there could be eagle's legs as apposed to duck legs which are more stubby or a shore bird whose legs help them wade and walk on the beach without disturbing prey etc. etc.

Or grebe legs, which are set far back in the body to aid in swimming, although they can't walk very well on land.

wow, everyone really got off topic...it used to be about the function of bird legs, and now we're talking about exotic birds...well, that tends to happen when it comes to scioly. anyway, i think it would really help if we knew what bird the test was asking about, because there are many functions of legs for different birds.

I had question on one of the previous tests, don't remember which one, but it asked why herons always stand on one leg.
Might be kind of basic, but I still never got the reason - would anybody care to fill me in? Thanks :D

It reduces heat loss. Most birds don't have feathers on their legs to trap heat in. So they touch it up to the body where the feathers can help keep them warm.
When it comes to the future, there are three kinds of people: those who let it happen, those who make it happen, and those who wonder what happened.

Ahh, thank you. :D That makes much more sense than the gibberish me and my partner came up with.

aw man, i don't really know where we messed up on this event. i actually thought we were going to medal... D8
the night before states we were cramming for all of our events as a team in the lobby of our hotel room, and i copied all of the info from this chart i made of my birds (i did the passerines and the other birds on that page, kjhsscioly the waterbirds and such), which included behavior, habitat, food, nest, etc. SO helpful - there was so much on it.
what did we fail on, let's see let's see... the test asked a few vocab words we didn't know exactly -or at all- (creche -which by the way we got wrong, kjhsscioly... i think you were refering to caches, but whatever- , facial disk -which we kind of knew- , zygodactyl, nidifugous)... it asked us to identify the family of the bird which some bird skulls belonged to  ... oh yeah it asked us some questions about the digestive/nervous/reproductive system based on a diagram but we had no idea... and i couldn't quite tell one of the calls :(
there's probably more i just can't remember right now.
