How committed are you to Science Olympiad?
I have to admit, 98% percent of the time when I'm supposed to study for Science Olympiad I get distracted and play games.
What about you? If you focus 85%-100% on Science Olympiad when you are supposed to, tell me how you can be that good!!!
What keeps you going even though your team has absolutely no chance in going to state/nationals?

I must admit, sometimes I digress and visit this site. But I will do whatever it takes to win. I am very dedicated.

What keeps you going to study? Just winning? Bragging rights? Proud parents?zyzzyva98 wrote:I must admit, sometimes I digress and visit this site. But I will do whatever it takes to win. I am very dedicated.

Re: How committed are you to Science Olympiad?
I'm well... SO obsessed... most of the time my friends can't stand me because I always start with "In SO..."
As for when I'm studying, I don't study very well during the meets. It's noisy, often crowded, and there isn't much time. I spend most of my time at home studying and especially during the weeks leading to competition, I can study for more than 10 hours straight per day. I never play games, though I do lose myself on this site sometimes... I guess I'm pretty dedicated. I will do anything within my power to my team do well.

Re: How committed are you to Science Olympiad?
My team has no chance of going to Nationals...(state is easy to get to cause or regionals are easy as pigeon), but i dont care about a bunch of lazy procrastinators....i do Sci Oly because i want to win for myself, no joke. Of course, i have friends on the team who do their work but no one on my team is as dedicated as me....
This may sound bad, but if u met a lot of my team members...ud understand.

Re: How committed are you to Science Olympiad?
It's never the parents. You can never force someone to study. In fact, I find that those people who are forced by their parents to do SO are some of the least dedicated (unless they start to learn to love SO). It's never bragging rights either. I try to keep my medal count/wins away from people outside of SO. I'm a competitive person by nature. My will to study comes from a mix of wanting to defend past titles, wanting to redeem myself in events I had not done well before, and well, meeting my expectations. I couldn't care less what the coaches or my parents or even my friends expected of me from SO. If I meet my expectations, I'm satisfied. It helps that my expectations are rather high.EpicFailOlympian wrote: What keeps you going to study? Just winning? Bragging rights? Proud parents?
Like I said before, you can't be forced or trained to like SO or want to study for it. You have to want it yourself.

It's all for the team. I think we can get to nats, and I will do everything in my power to get us there.EpicFailOlympian wrote:What keeps you going to study? Just winning? Bragging rights?
