Always check the State's website to find a modified bird list. The most known one, at least from seeing this forum, is New York's. Also check if you are going to an Invite in a different state. Don't want to get nailed for a different list. I know IL is using the national list.

Just to make sure, you can write on your 2 or 3 pages of the bird's list right? If so, Can you write notes on it like pictures of birds or just notes in general on it?

I wouldn't recommend putting actual photos of birds on the list, as you could be accused of having more than one page of notes and get DQ'ed. But drawings would probably would be alright, as long as their inconspicuous. And you can put small notes.

Good news! This is the core of what my event supervisor wrote me:

"I don't see a problem with having typed-out tabs to help you find a particular place in your field guide, kind of like post-it notes or page markers."

Event supervisors might have their own interpretations, so you have to be careful. I was so relived to hear this. :P

And if I would've known our regional supervisor would be okay, my life would be so much easier...

Was there anything that anyone encountered on their test (for Regionals or States) that kind of threw them off or wasn't on the rules? States is tomorrow... last minute cramming... and tabbing
