2020-2021 (7th grade)
Sparkly somehow got in during original tryouts when SV wasn't under the "Evola program" yet. At the online scrimmage for teams, she only tried for EXPD, placing second, and WICI, placing first out of 2 people. She was then put on varsity because everyone hates WICI and was also thrown into helicopters and GameOn. She absolutely loved game on (note the sarcasm because just no), and also loved helicopters (also sarcastic). Nevertheless, weeks of 8 hour build/test sessions for her helicopter later, it still broke at states with her partners' helicopter also breaking.
2021-2022 (8th grade)
At the beginning of the year, she decided to try out with the physics events under the impression that she would be able to stop doing Storm the Castle and Crave the Wave and just do EXPD, Sounds, and WIDI, which she did not suck at. She was not able to stop doing Storm and Crave. She still sucks at them. She deems herself a emotional support partner during those events.

Events!
Really just event ranting. Ordered from favorite to least favorite. All my events still have a special place in my heart and I do have things I like about them, some just deserve to be ranted about ;). This is completely shaped from my own experiences and not meant to influence or offend others, or be a representation of the event!
Experimental Design and Data Analysis (online version)
Expd with data analysis during the 2020-2021 season is easily Sparkly's all time favorite event. She had amazing partners, and every single practice and test they took together was extremely enjoyable, though one of her partners did force her to practice probability and math problems the night before states. She loved doing the sampling problems on every test and hated the standard deviation questions, and greatly misses the event though they got second to JT almost every single time.
EXPD (traditional)
By the 2022 season, Sparkly was still in expd but now traditional format, with the notasfun part 2 with four too many CER's. Statistics CER INFURIATES HER because every single competition wants something different from it and she has no idea how to ensure how to get points for it every time!!!! Her best EXPD moment was after she got moved down to red team, but essentially did 1/2+ of an EXPD with decent but not her usual partners, and FULL SCORED the test and beat black team. EXPD is her forever favorite event as she enjoys how it's essentially a race against yourself and time every time. She didn't compete in it by regionals/states/nats though, but she still loves EXPD.
Sounds of Music
Sounds of music is the reason why Sparkly did physics events for this season. Building the instrument and deciding what to do was really fun, though the instrument scammed her at nats. The test portion covers a wide range of topics, and sounds test seem to usually be higher quality than other physics tests, and the calculations are much less confusing. She enjoys the music theory/instrument sections the most, except when you need to have perfect pitch and be good at ear training which she is not.
Game on (i cannot believe myself)
Game on absolutely sucks, how is it fourth here but oh well. Why, if you literally do the exact same game type, get 1st at one competition and like 30th at another. The rubric is so subjective which makes it so annoying. Maybe after a long time it gets a littleee bit fun, but still not fun at all. And scratch. Online. 2 different partners in different places. Just does not work very well. Scratch cat will haunt Sparkly forever.
WIDI
Sparkly will never understand why WIDi is an event, "oh directions scientific process" no it's not it's simply speedwriting and a lot of practice and praying your doer knows what you're saying. It's always so nerve wracking because you have no idea how it went, but after some time it gets a little bit better. The third at nats made WIDI a little more bearable for her though;)
Crave the Wave
To start, Sparkly is not that good at studying and math and physics which is what crave is. On top of that crave is just stupid. It's either the same "label the wave, order EM waves, here's a snells law question" or just a lot of random hard stuff that you have no idea what's happening. Good crave tests are very rare to find. The NATS crave test WAS THE WORST TEST EVER TAKEN. Around 70% was the SONI test copied word for word with extremely easy identification, sorting, etc questions, and then a few easy calculations and more random trivia. She will never get over how terrible this test was. She never liked crave from the start but will never ever like it after the nats test.
Helicopter
Thrown into this event in the beginning of the year, she had no idea what to expect. She had no partner in this for the majority of the year. After a lot of trying to just make the helicopter not just fall to the ground, she got her first 7 second flight after around a few weeks of starting. Through a lot of long build sessions and testing later, her plane was doing fine, and got a partner. However at states, both her and her partner's plane broke, with her's literally snapping on zoom. Bad memories from helicopter.
WICI
Why does WICI exist. And why does it have to be on onshape. Tinkercad would be great, but the endless void of onshape and it crashing and praying on her downfall will forever haunt Sparkly.
Storm the Castle
She really only worked on this in the beginning of the year then just helped out her partner. Storm has so many different factors to it and so many variables, which makes it really hard to test and annoying. During lexington, there were no gyms available anywhere, and they had to film in huge wind which was definitely an experience. She makes a killer design log though.
