The user Entomology currently competes in Div B for the competitive Carmel Valley Middle School. Entomology typically prefers earth science and life science events (especially taxonomy events) and tends to avoid events that involve equations and math, as numbers make her head dizzy. Entomology is a proud member of teh ento cult and the coquina crew.

2013-2014: Solana Pacific Elementary School

Events- Disease Detectives, Entomology, Wheeled Vehicle

In the 2013-2014 SciOly season, I received events that I didn't particularily care for. I hated bugs- who wants to learn about Belostomatidae's anatomy or fulgoridae's classification? I didn't take SciOly very seriously, and I now regret it as ento is now one of my favorite events. Wheeled Vehicle, on the other hand, was one of my better events. However, on the day of competition, me and my partner were so jittery that we forgot to set the brake. rip our vehicle and medal.

2014-2015: Carmel Valley Middle School

Events: Entomology, Fossils, Green Generation, Picture This

Sometime over the summer, I realized that if I wanted a chance at CVMS, I would have to be tons more serious- the CVMS scioly program is pretty competitive, and it was "survival of the fittest", so to speak. By a stroke of luck, I was placed in Ento again, along with my other top 4 choices. However, I made yet another mistake: I put all my time and energy into one event-- which did result in a gold medal-- but my other events lacked, especially fossils.

=2015-2016: Carmel Valley Middle School

Events: Fossils, Invasive Species, Bridge Building, Experimental Design

This year, i was determined to find a healthy balance between all my events. I took on the classic study/study/lab/build format, and began going into full on "scioly mode." I went to my first invitational this year-- and unexpectedly, my team took home the first place trophy, beating not only the major powerhouses in our region, but the one in Norcal, too. Many of my teammates saw the opportunity I did; we finally had a realistic shot at finally making Nats. Everyone took on heavy loads and studied endlessly in hopes that this would be the year.Bold text Unfortunately, everything fell apart at state. An uncalibrated vehicle, a forgotten station- all petty mistakes, but mistakes nonetheless. Our shot at nats was gone, and instead of taking home the 2nd place trophy, which we had done for 10 years, we took home the 4th.
