R.C. Murphy Middle School, formerly R.C. Murphy Junior High School, is a Division B team located in Stony Brook, New York. The school competes in the Eastern Long Island Regional Tournament, alongside their sister school Paul J. Gelinas Middle School. The school is part of the Three Village Central School District. The school feeds into Ward Melville High School. The school qualifies for the New York State Tournament almost yearly. In the 2020-21 season, the team made the national tournament for the first time, placing 2nd at the state tournament and earning 3 national medals. In the 2017-18 season, the team scored 2 points away from the nationals bid.

R.C. Murphy, along with Paul J. Gelinas, have transitioned from junior high schools to middle schools. This means that they have both (unfortunately) lost the 9th grade on their teams.
The R.C. Murphy SciO Team has four coaches: Mrs. Difede, Ms. Chernakoff, Mrs. Suesser, and Mr Angermaier. Mr. Angermaier is a technology teacher and helps with build events, while the rest teach various science subjects.
The school's colors, along with the colors of all schools in the Three VIllage Central School District, are green and gold.
