Reflection on 23-24
In Fossils, I medalled at nearly every tournament except the 2 that mattered (Regional and State). That was disappointing. I hope I don't repeat this mistake for 24-25.
For Meteorology I did pretty well. At the beginning my partner definitely contributed more but throughout the season (mostly in the 2nd semester) I improved my skills a lot.
For Reach For The Stars I medalled 3 times until UT. Since that year the other team doing RFTS was definitely better than my partner and I (they got 1st at UT), I got replaced, which led to me doing Optics.
In Optics I never did well, except for Regionals when we got lucky on the laser shoot.
And then, there was Dynamic Planet. My excellent partner (Kunsh) and I started studying in Winter Break and we got 2nd at Anthony. If I'm being honest, DP is probably one of the hardest events of all time (that I have done). We didn't medal for the tournaments after Anthony, but we were steadily improving because we worked hard. My partner had a whole stack of practice tests that we would work on pretty much whenever we had time. Eventually, we clutched up and medalled at State.
Now I'm going to talk about Rickards Ornithology. I honestly have no clue how I got 2nd at this (probably because not many competitors did it). I did my half of the binder in 2 days. The test was fun though and my partner was good (a hard worker).
And lastly, there was Wind Power. I got it for the first tournament only because nobody else was willing to do it. My partner and I had no clue what we were doing. I thoroughly despised this event and am glad I never returned to it.
