Participants will solve problems and analyze data or diagrams using their knowledge of the basic principles of genetics, molecular genetics and biotechnology.
Designer Genes is a Division C biology event for the 2021 season. It was previously an event for the 1987-1997, 2003-2007, 2013, 2014, 2019, 2020, and 2020 seasons. The event covers topics relating to genetics, biotechnology, and the molecular biology of inheritance.
Many topics listed in the table in section 3 of the rules consist of the material in the Division B event Heredity (although generally in less detail since it is only one part of the event). Several sections of this page link to the appropriate sections of the Heredity page.
