Burleigh Manor Middle School is a Division B team competing in the Central region of Maryland. Burleigh Manor Middle School is a very close neighbor and friend to Centennial High School. In fact, Burleigh's Science Olympiad team is mentored by Centennial High School students. The team was created after a parent wondered why there was a Science Olympiad team in Centennial but none in Burleigh, and decided to take action. The team is currently still young but growing very rapidly, gaining first in Regionals 2019, beating North Bethesda Middle School, the long time Maryland Division B champion. In 2021, the team qualified for the 2021 National Tournament. In 2022, the team placed second to Clarksville in states, by only one point. In 2025, Burleigh made a return by earning a first place title in regionals, only to get second against Mount View in states. Missing national qualifications by only a few points. Still, Burleigh is among the best SciOly schools in MD and it should be recognized for its hard work.
