Experimental Design/Practice
Ok so your probably like this is nice, but what should I expect to get at competition. So here's some sample list of materials and topics. have fun :D (oh most of these I actually had in competition)
List 1
Make an experiment using gravity as a factor. 3 rubber balls(different sizes and colors), foot of masking tape, 10 rubber bands, meter/yard stick, plastic spoon, block of styrofoam, 10 Popsicle sticks.
List 2
No topic just go wild with it: 2 toy cars, 5 rubber bands, push pins (unlimited), meter/yard stick, 3 1'x1'sheets of cardboard, 5 1'x1/2 sheets of cardboard, 5 1'X1/4 sheets of cardboard.
List 3
Use temperature as a factor: Thermometer, Hot and cold water (aka sink), cup of sugar, cup of salt, cup of MSG , beakers (unlimited), 10 plastic spoons, toothpaste (unlimited), hair gel (unlimited).
List 4
Something has to roll: 5 marbles, 1 can, 1 foot of sand paper, a small pegboard, 4 dictionaries, a sharpie, 1 foot of masking tape, 1 foot of PVC pipe.
List 5
You must use the water: 10 cotton balls, 4 breakers, cup of sand, cup of salt, bottle of water (bottle may be used), measuring cups, plastic wrap, 10 cotton swabs.
List 6
No topic have fun this is really gonna test you;): 1 stick of gum, 1 cup of juice, 1 cup of soda water, 1 cup of chex mix, 10 plastic cups, 5 plastic spoons, meter/yard stick.
List 7
Must relate to chemistry: 10 plastic spoons, 1/2 cup of lemon juice, 4 plastic bottles, cup of baking soda, 1/4 cup of vinegar.
List 8
No topic: 3 markers, 10 sheets of plain white paper, 3 pencils, 3 crayons, 2 rulers.
List 9
You must use electricity: one buzzer, one lemon, one tomato, one battery, one penny, one paper clip, one ice bath, one hot plate, thermometer.
List 10
You must use basic physics 10 note cards, 2 sheets of sand paper, cup of salt, 5 marbles, a toy car, foot of tape, 10 paper clips, hope these list help and have fun(more to come)
