Albuquerque Area Home Schoolers

The Albuquerque Area Home Schoolers have been participating in Science Olympiad since the 2004-2005 competitions, when Linda Walkup organized a group of ten home schoolers into a midschool team to provide science enrichment and opportunity for her daughter and other science-minded home schoolers. Encouraged by their success in the ten events they participated in, the next year they stretched their team of ten to do all 23 events the next year, and somehow won the state competition. The midschool team has continued to do well, finishing first or second at state for the last five years. A high school team was formed partly from the former midschool team members for the 2008 Science Olympiad, and has continued to improve, placing fifth, then third, then second place in 2010.
