Russell Independent Middle School is a Division B school that competes in the state of Kentucky. Russell has been the Kentucky state champion since 2009, while Meyzeek Middle School has been the runner-up.
The team qualified for the 2014 National competition at the Kentucky 2014 state competition and placed 31st at Nationals overall along with individual medals.
