New Trier Northfield High School competes in the Illinois Science Olympiad Division C competition. They are an all freshman team that feeds into the New Trier Winnetka High School, which has a history for winning the state competition. They compete in a different regional that the Winnetka team, and they generally compete in the small school division at States.
When the Northfield campus opened in 2001, they immediately started a Science Olympiad team that would be able to feed into the higher school. Though they struggled in their early years, they soon became a regular force at regionals and a contender in the state Small School division.
