I just wanted to clarify the recent score change thing. As of Monday 5/15/17, Acton Boxborough's coach, Brian Dempsey, notified the Massachusetts Science Olympiad Organizer, Robert Goldstein, that he had discovered that 3 students on his team had cheated in the event Hovercraft. Because of this, Acton Boxborough was disqualified in Hovercraft, which brings their score from 75 to 131, putting Newton South, originally the second place team, in 1st place for 2017. However, given that this was discovered only days before nationals, Newton South was unable to pull together the funds to attend and decided to let Acton Boxoborough attend in their place.
