All three of these act as carbon sinks via storing atmospheric CO2 (a greenhouse gas) in the soil

True for taiga and deciduous, but with the melting of the permafrost, millennia of frozen lichen and mosses are now available to decomposition by bacteria. This decomposition releases lots of methane which is roughly 86 times more potent of a greenhouse gas than CO2, and this easily outweighs the marginal amount of CO2 that is taken up by the sparse tundra vegetation Your turn

Basing off principles of ecology, explain the extinction of the Passenger Pigeon (Ectopistes migratorius) of the deciduous forest during the 19th century.

I guess if I'm basing my answer off of the image, then habitat destruction and over-hunting decimated and fragmented the population resulting in its eventual extinction. Now we have european starlings instead.

Passenger pigeons used the strategy of migratory predator-satiation (shown here as occurring in too great of numbers to be taken in entirety by the few local hunters). The undoing of this was the overpredation/overharvest incurred when the commercial pigeon industry arose. Fragmentation and disturbance of nesting/roosting habitat also took a great toll.
Your go.
