Re: Rocks and Minerals B/C
This is a bit outdated but for some newcomers this site helped me with both entomology and rocks and minerals at regionals and states.

You have to capitalize the first letter of every answer and a couple are misspelled but you can find a pattern after a couple minutes of playing around with this.

How does one distinguish between calcite and dolomite apart from an acid test?

You can't but usually on a test they will provide the pertinent information to tell the difference

OMG thank you. I used this my first year but I couldn't remember the website.embokim wrote:This is a bit outdated but for some newcomers this site helped me with both entomology and rocks and minerals at regionals and states.

Re: Rocks and Minerals B/C
Hey guys!
Does anyone have an old copy of the Rocks and Minerals rules manual lying around (like from 2013 & 2014 season perhaps)? If so, can you post a link here? I'd like to get a general idea of what the event includes without having to buy the entire 2017 Division C event rules manual... and I'm sure many others feel the same
Thank you!!!

They are copyrighted, and as such cannot be posted here. You can get a copy of this year's rules from your coach, who should have (or will) receive a copy of the rules with registration. You may also check the Rocks and Minerals wiki page for helpful information (it actually has quite a bit, so you should definitely take a look through it).Lis_ara wrote:Hey guys!

Re: Rocks and Minerals B/C
If tests have a mineral from the tourmaline group, will they want the specific mineral? (e.g. Liddicoatite?)

Re: Rocks and Minerals B/C
From my experience, they'll only ask for the specimen on the list, but giving the variation can get you tiebreaker points.bhavjain wrote:If tests have a mineral from the tourmaline group, will they want the specific mineral? (e.g. Liddicoatite?)
