Colleges
can anyone help me with some questions to ask at college visits, and some ideas for colleges with good biology programs?

Re: Colleges
What are you planning on doing with your biology degree? There are schools that are good for medicine, schools that are good for research, etc.

Re: Colleges
Use the College Finder tool on collegeboard.com. Input all the things/programs you're looking for in a college, including geographic location and even price range, and it'll give you a list of all the colleges available. It's REALLY helpful when you're looking for what schools you want to visit, trust me.

Re: Colleges
Also, if there is a college where you live you could try talking to a biology prof there. People working in an industry have a much better view of what is hot and happening in their world.

Re: Colleges
You might want to look into Environmental or Civil Engineering. They pay better, but you still get to wander around in swamps.rocketman1555 wrote:i'm planning on going into a field in ecology or environmental sciences, and i am going to talk to some of the bio professors at different colleges i'm visiting this summer

Re: Colleges
For environmental sciences, the new Southampton campus of Stony Brook is supposed to be pretty good. Then again, its only like a year or 2 old or something, so it doesnt have a huge reputation yet.

Re: Colleges
I'm not sure where you're located, but you might want to check state schools first. They generally have very good programs for the best value/cost. Take Purdue for instance; highly reputable and rigorous engineering programs for the in-state cost.
