What kind of practical experiment/test-things can we expect? What kind of practical things have you guys had in the past?

The UT regional was super good about this. The proctor (whose name I can't remember but he was super good) set up:
-standing wave on a string, where we had to calculate stuff about it
-various prisms and refraction stuff
-listening stations/doppler effect, intervals
-gifs that you had to answer questions about
-I think he made some Java programs involving pigments/colors, but I can't remember what it involved.

At nationals
-listening station at the beginning
-finding epicenter of an earthquake using triangulation/compass
-something to do with filters over a flashlight (?)
-prisms/refraction

For Regionals, we had an enthusiastic supervisor who set up experiments covering:
-Tuning Fork Beat Frequency Questions
-Rectangular Prism and refraction ray drawing
-Open End/Closed End Water pipe natural frequency experiment ( I like this one )
-Doppler Shift
...

States we had a live "slinky" demo and the main "hands on" portion was using a map and finding the epicenter of an earthquake

Nats, ditto above

:)

I believe there's also stations/activities about filters (you know the flashlight color and the light color and you have to determine filter, etc.)

could anyone post the formulas required?
also, last year there were many things my team didn't know that were in the test; my group studied basically everything from the wiki, but it appears that some topics were different?
thanks

What were the questions like that you didn't know?

@above: there was an section on AM/FM waves which my teammate and I didn't know well and it wasn't on our instruction sheet...
