With State Tournaments gearing up, I think it is time to start thinking about things to bring to the Swap Meet to represent you team, your school, your state and your intrinsic nerdiness.

And don't forget HATS! The all important opening ceremony hats!

Something I love to do is every year come back from the Swap Meet with some kind of different, weird, exotic, or rare food/drink item that I have never seen. Some kind of weird soda, a rare treat that I don't have in my home state, etc. It's fun to share with everyone so we can all bask in the glory of the swaps! :D

I have never been to the swap meet before. How does it work? I know that people trade stuff, but don't know much else.
I'm not sure what to bring, but I'm debating bringing something like this:

Usually it's items from your state: NY generally brings things about the Statue of Liberty, NYC, etc...Some states, though, have it difficult. I still have the corn pen I got last year from Nebraska!

Hmmmm, last year petoskey stones and chert really didn't trade well for me (but then again, I'm really not the trading type...).

Would people be interested in a bottle of sand? Or would water from Lake Michigan be better? And also would anyone be interested in rocks? As much as rocks didn't trade well last year, they seem to be one of the more representative objects of Michigan that I can bring.

Wait. Please bring petoskey stones for SWAPs. I want one and I'm from Texas. I'll trade you something for it.
