That OK-GO video is pretty cool indeed. There are actually a lot of similar 'professionally done' Rube Goldberg like machine videos on Youtube if you search for them, such as:

While these videos are very cool, they don't really help with mission possible much. Most of those are mechanical. We have to do so many more. The mechanical ones are the easy ones.

The purpose of the Science Olympiad event is different from what people are doing in the video since we have been aiming for energy transfers from one form to a different form. However, I think you can learn some things by looking at how they manage to get some mechanical transfers to work and apply them in your building to get other types of transfers to work.
