Don't get too excited about seeing changes...

Seems to me there's only one major change this year.

Just noticed the change - does it make the event easier?

I don't think it really changes the difficulty of this event. It will always be a VERY difficult event to get right.

Exactly what I thought too. I think our state director is planning to make a standard setup, but that's just for states. :( I really hated the device they had at Nationals.

I don't think it would be a bad idea for NSO or at least your friendly state director to post a plan for a standard (state or nats wide) drop device just to clear things up.

(Thought I think my state dropped Bungee Drop last year cause we didn't have a room for it..)

I don't think it'd be a bad idea either. In fact, I'd say that it's almost necessary to create a standard dropping system as the rules don't make that clear. It's like testing bridges without knowing how far the bridge has to span or something. I did Bungee Drop for an invitational, regionals, states, and nationals, AND they had a different dropping mechanism every time. Which means our data was useless XD. Every time was basically a test.
