Maybe, on profiles and such, there could be a differentiation between the two regions of California? For users that reside in the state of California, their profiles (and their sidebars or whatever they're called next to their posts) show CA as where they're from. If it doesn't take a ridiculous feat of coding to achieve, perhaps there could be two additional choices added? The acronyms could be decided by the admins or whoever, but I think that depending on the amount of work it takes to implement this, is would be useful.

I'd like to run with this, and suggest something that could denote the regions, too. (Like, ELI for Eastern Long Island, or C for Central) Not necessary, just a thought. I do realize that it would be an inconvient and probably uncessassary change.

Yea, they could put NorCal and SoCal so we can distinguish between the two. I am in NorCal, so it would be nice if the site did that. :D

Yeah, it makes sense like that  I like that idea. I'm also from NoCa so this is a pretty good idea. :P

How many sections in NY?

Nine regions, if that's what you mean by sections.

We will look at the feasability of implementing NorCal and SoCal separately- I know it's come up before, so there might be something holding us back. Regions? Probably not going to happen.

It's worth noting that not every state has permanently defined 'regions'. IL, for example, has teams hopping from Regional to Regional and have the locations changing for some of them on a regular basis. It would be a mess.

NorCal SoCal may come about, it mainly depends on if we decide on a simple way to change all the entries regarding location in the database.
If you look back to some of the old requests about this the issue was (and still is) that to change the location options, in terms of inserting a new record would shift the rest of the values off by one, and to merely add one on the end would not be logical.

So it may happen, if it seems feasible.

Regions however are not going to happen, that is such a variable, and large issue that it is not worth attempting, especially when State is more then enough information to get an idea of where someone is from.

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand what this means. Then again, I know next to nothing about coding. .-. Couldn't you just add the two locations and keep plain old CA, so inactive people don't have to be accounted for, while people who want to change to NorCal/SoCal could do so? Or not? ._.
