New Theme
The new end of the season theme is awesome!
P.S.-the 'Home' link at the top--which is the only way back to the index far as I can tell--isn't doing anything for me.

While you might think it's cute, it's really hard to read the text in front of the background images. We need a way to turn this theme off and revert to a more 'normal' view in order to facilitate keeping up with all the posts and messages. Just typing this post was almost painful to my eyes.

Re: New Theme
You guys can never top last year's April Fools. I distinctly remember freaking out.
I think it's cute, but somewhat inconvenient.

Re: New Theme
You know April Fools jokes are supposed to occur on April 1st..... it's not yet then anywhere in the country that SciOly members reside.Skink wrote:I would expect it gone in 24hrs...or less.
Regardless, while some may think this is funny, it might permanently scare away members (particularly those of us that are older) who don't want immediately think about it being a joke and instead might think it's just 'the latest fad for all you youngsters'....

Re: New Theme
Why Hello Kitty? It's making it a tad difficult to click on things. I like the idea, but it is a bit difficult to read shtuffs with this background. Also, it makes some Mods names practically invisible.
EDIT: Something I just noticed, the pictures and Hide things on the Rocks and Minerals Question thread aren't showing up. It's just a blank space.

Re: New Theme
The home link needs to be fixed; it's not much fun going up and deleting everything in the address bar whenever one needs to return to the index.
Look at my post in YDRC (link). If you have a browser/browser plugin that supports custom stylesheets, you can fix this somewhat easily.ali941 wrote:Why Hello Kitty? Re: New Theme
I click "Board index" to return to the home page. It is small and I miss all the time(+ I dont have my mouse right now).
I definitely am not used to the sharp, contrast, background image...with transparent stuff everywhere.
I like the kitty, pony is hard to adjust from the beakers, and the words and proportions make it hard for me to find thing. I will probably only check back for certain forums, and not explore new things since it is so difficult, and its busy school period, right before major tests and end of 2nd semester.
I enjoy looking at the nice picture...but just if I sit back, and look at its prettiness... :3
When I look for "submit", when its over the glaring, red sun, it is invisible to my poor eyesight..need black/blue under the white words...especially when scrolling around looking for buttons :]

Re: New Theme
I think that this theme is in general an improvement and I would like to make the proposal to make it permanent. However, there is one particularly egregious error that simply must be fixed. It seems that there is a line drawn for the orbit of each planet, however I can't help but notice that Pluto also has an orbit drawn in.
I would like to point out that according to the International Astronomical Union (hereafter referred to as the IAU), Pluto is a dwarf planet and as such, it should be treated appropriately. Now, I know that people worry that Pluto won't get enough love now that it has been demoted to dwarf planet, to them I say, Pluto is a fickle beast, it has a heart as cold as ice. However, I am not unreasonable and will appease the numerous requests from fellow scioly users to keep the line showing the orbit of Pluto. However, I truly must insist that if this has to be so, then the orbits of the other dwarf planets simply must be drawn in as well. I can not sit by idly as Pluto gets all the pity that comes with being a dwarf planet while Ceres, Haumea, Makemake, Eris, and countless other dwarf planets in the universe languish in relative anonymity.

When it comes to the future, there are three kinds of people: those who let it happen, those who make it happen, and those who wonder what happened.
