Has anyone ever been in a situtation, where you and your teammate is just one place from ranking? Any other almost... moments?

Yes. Last year alone it happened five times to me, which averaged out to once per competition.

Yes, but it's not really worth caring about. You get the place you earn

2 years ago (7th grade) our TEAM was 1 point away from state

Last year (8th grade) I was one place from a Crime Busters medal, and our team was one point away from 4th place (rather than 5th) [we did qualify for state based on "wild card" though]

And of course this year will probably be another hectic/surprising end to my Division B saga.

Almost got 5 golds at our invitational this year.
Took 2nd in Astronomy after a double tiebreaker (which I'm convinced was a coin flip as there was only one tiebreaker marked on the test ).
