Cushioning Cushioning Cushioning. It's common physics, Newton's 3rd Law, that the longer a moving object is in contact with another object that is "stationary" the less force is exerted on the object. So that means you want to make it so the device contacts the egg for as long as possible so thus a damper is useful and so is soft stuff such as cottonballs, torn up paper, or foampeanuts. Be careful you don't make it too springy or else the egg will pop up and most likely come down and crack

So you suggest dropping an egg in a tube of jello? You don't belong on this site.

freeman, Jello might actually work, it's very viscous depending on how cold it is :geek: , but it's just not practical to use because of what is required to keep it at a useful state. We are just trying to help him so please try not to criticize other people. :| Dude is one of the people with the most posts on this site, although sometimes his posts are rather random or off topic :D, and a huge contributor to this site so please take your criticism elsewhere 8-) .

Shredded packing peanuts might work to cushion the fall, though I'd imagine that it would take an excessive amount of energy to shred them.

Though, if you're like the rest of us, you wouldn't mind. :D

just keep in mind to have some sort of a "hard bottom" just because you dont want it to fly through the stuff so have something hard on the bottom like rice or beans, or oatmeal or something like that
