Scioly Assassination 87: Crossfire
Posted: June 24th, 2012, 6:00 am
I broke into foreverphysics's evil criminal mastermind lair. It wasn't that hard, really. Hacked the security system, blew the reinforced door to kingdom come, and marched right in.
"What the -- What are you doing here?"
"If you'd care to listen, I'd like to be so bold as to be the next psychopath to terrorize Scioly."
"All I care about is getting back to formulating my plan for world domination."
"See, that's why I'm here. There's a little problem."
"Which would be...?"
"Well now, Scioly can't have two psychopaths, can it?"
We both reached for the gun, but i got there first. I guess I did Scioly a little bit of good. Nowadays there's only one psychopath instead of two. (Note -- dead for purposes of exposition only.)
Being a criminal mastermind is difficult though. I can't do it alone. I have an accomplice among the officers who can misdirect, confuse, and potentially nullify protects. All that jazz.
Of course you're going to try to stop me. I dare you to.
---
1. The officers will be the next five people who send in correct answers to the clue. Put in a bit of thought before answering. If you have not been around for awhile, it is less likely that you will be able to identify me.
2. Non-officers may post.
3. People will die. However, there are some exceptions. I will not kill administrators or moderators. In return, I ask that they not reveal my identity.
4. Officers may die, but an officer may protect another officer. Protections must use the following template, "I protect <username> because..." A reason must be provided, but reasons are not required to be reasonable.
5. Once an officer has made five incorrect accusations, he or she may not accuse or protect anyone.
6. The Assassinator will provide clues that plainly point to his next victim, and occasionally to himself.
7. The Assassinator may continue to post with his true account, and may provide hints there.
8. When accusing someone of being assassinator, the accusing officer must use the following template, "I accuse <username> because..." Again, a reason must be provided, but reasons are not required to be reasonable.
9. Once "killed", a user may not make any statements concerning the identity of the Assassinator.
10. The Assassinator may kill after forty-eight hours or after all protections have been made, whichever comes first.
11. If the Assassinator does not reply in 7 days after all protects are made, each officer receives a free accusation. It can be saved to be used later.
12. Each officer starts with one accusation, and can earn accusations as they protect correctly. Accusations are transferrable, but the transfer must be declared.
13. The Assassinator wins after 25 total incorrect accusations have been made, but the number required goes down by one with each kill.
14. The Assassinator is not one of the officers.
15. One of the officers, chosen at semi-random, will be a double agent working for the Assassinator. As long as this officer is alive, one protect for each clue will be nullified at random. The process will be truely random through the use of a random number generator to determine which protect is nullified.
16. Officers are allowed and encouraged to accuse each other of being the double agent. These accusations count against the officers in the same way that normal accusations do. Once accused, the double agent is out of the game (this does NOT count against the officers as a kill) and the officer who accused correctly may protect twice on each subsequent clue.
17. The Assassinator reserves the right to add to these rules as he deems necessary.
