More GalleryMods?

I noticed that there are 4 wikimods but only 1 gallerymod. I was thinking that we can have more gallerymods. At the moment, not me - I have no experience. Maybe someone like paleonaps (everyone loves him... he's got impersonators - and he has a bunch of useful posts, the most of any sciolyer) or another experienced, helpful sciolyer.

Everyone hates me (or so I thought) and I have no gallery experience. I'd be much better suited to be a wikimod.
I only have one star, anyway, so I can't get to a higher place for a while.

Being elevated to Mod status of some kind is not about being popular, and it certainly is not about having the most posts. It is about having shown you are committed to not only scioly.org, but to SO in general. Everyone likes being recognized, and that colored username, and those medals change the way people look at you. What people often forget is the work that goes on behind the scenes for some of these jobs, a Wikimod has to know enough about the wiki and have enough free time to not only roll over the wiki ever year, but also be able to improve the wiki. This is in addition to the everyday task of keeping an eye on the wiki to make sure no one does anything screwy. A Gallerymod not only approves images, he or she must not only help people upload their pictures, but they also must convince them to upload since many people are highly protective of their designs (as I can personally attest to). I think you can catch my drift...

If you wish for further information on what it means to be a mod, I refer you to the search function.

I understand it takes much more than it seems to- and I don't think I am cut out to be a wikimod. I just said that if I were either, I would be a wikimod.

I understand now. But isn't the gallery just as important as the Wiki? So I say that we get more gallerymods (that are suited for the job)

I agree, but I don't know who would be suited for the job.

Problem with adding more Gallerymods is that the Gallery really doesn't need the same amount of upkeep as the Wiki. The wiki has to role over every year, add to that the Test Exchange buried in the wiki and the sheer size of the wiki, it's a much bigger job (atleast in sheer volume) than managing the Gallery. That being said, the Gallery could still use someone to be the face of it and get people to upload, but this requires a very specific kind of person.

It is the management staff's job to make staffing decisions, can we keep it that way?

Of course. No offense intended.
