Preliminary discussion for Forestry. This was created in order to keep the important thread clear of clutter
Has anyone (grads, probably) done this event before?
I've already purchased the Sibley guide to trees, since IMO it is the superior tree guide on the market. There is a much smaller range of guides for trees than there is for birds.

I don't want forestry to become an event.

My school has 4 or 5 forestry binders from years ago. Do you think we can bring as many resources as we want (like the Trial Event) or only 1 binder?

Why not? Plants and plant physiology are a vert important of biology. I'm not looking forward to the ID part as much, but it's the same thing as birds or fossils.

This event sounds somewhat fun, and yeah, plants are pretty important.

I'm actually not excited for the plant physiology but the ID. Animal anatomy (especially human anatomy) is far more interesting than plant, I think.

Of all the ID events, I'd be most likely to do this one, because I don't like to go messing around with animal physiology. That's just not me. And I understand why you may not be interested in it, but I think plant ID events have a place in SO too.

It's interesting that with the elimination of Ecology and Ornithology in favor of Water Quality and Forestry, there would be no remaining events about non-human animals. Although Water Quality may include a bit of water-creature information, I don't think it would be enough to make up for the major void that would exist with no remaining zoological events.

This will replace Ornithology in both divisions right?
