I need Help

Post by fanjiatian »

I need a short description of Science Olympiad that does not resemble the one on the National Website.

I need it to be short, descriptive yet enticing.

TIA

The competition isn't based on this website, in fact, I'm pretty sure this website isn't officially affiliated with soinc in any way. Science Olympiad is a fun way for students looking to go into science to be able to look at certain areas of science and compete with other students their age at competitions at a regional, state, and national level.

Science Olympiad is a competition that encompasses a variety of areas in science. Different facets of science are divided into events, and members from the team of a school volunteer or are selected to compete in these events. Medals are awarded to the top 3 teams that place in each event, and overall placing is recognized in a similar manner. Dedication is required for Science Olympiad, and the group that forms each year in a school provides a unique atmosphere for the participants to explore the wide world of science. There is an event for anyone who has an interest in science, and events include (but are not limited to) building and testing structures and works created by the students, studying for and taking a written exam that includes topics that vary from year to year, working at lab stations, etc. Skills and knowledge that are gained through Science Olympiad will serve those participating for the rest of their lives, and many are inspired to pursue a scientific career after high school. Science Olympiad provides an opportunity for students to be part of a team while taking part in events that interest them as well.

Hope it isn't too wordy. Feel free to revise. What do you need the description for, if you don't mind me asking? Whatever it is, I hope this helped.

The Science Olympiad is a national competition where students team up with their school and compete against other schools in various areas of science. These topics are called events. Medals are awarded for the top 6 teams (up to 2 people, most of the time) in an event (in NY state). Trophies are awarded for the top ten schools. There are 3 levels of competition; all teams start at the Regional level, and the top 3-5 advance to State. The top 2 in state go to the National (or "Nats") which is held in May or June every year. In the Science Olympiad, there is often a lot of team spirit. Some teams have their own uniform T-shirt. Some other awards given to the teams are the New Team Award (new team that performs the best), the Spirit Award (showing team spirit), and the T-Shirt award (best T-shirt). The competitions are hosted by universities or schools. The Science Olympiad also gets people interested in science and teaches them about it.
