Re: Torn between several events
Well, which events are you interested in? It'd be easier to help you make a decision if you let us know your interests and what events you were choosing between.
Since it seems like your issue is being interested in too many events rather than not knowing what events you would like, I would just start by making a list of pros/cons for the events you want to do. Think about how fun you find them, whether or not the information is applicable to your future, and how much time you would need to dedicate to each event. Also consider whether or not you've done the event before--would you need to create resources like notesheets or binders from the ground up, or do you have them already?
Or if you truly don't have any preferences just put all the events you want to do in one of those name wheels and spin the wheel to pick which events you'll do. That works too.

Choose the ones that are less popular at your school, and ones that you think you'd do better in. Maybe try some tests and see which ones you prefer (as you definitely have a preference).

Re: Torn between several events
Our teams decide. Everyone lists their top six picks, which then go on the whiteboard arranged in conflict blocks. Where there are excess people, either some people volunteer to go elsewhere, or the people that really want that event make their case to the team, and the team chooses. "I did well at this event last year" is always a good argument.

Re: Torn between several events
If you have access to the schedules for the tournaments you'll attend this season, looking at events that conflict on the schedule can help narrow your decisions. Sometimes the events you want to do might coincide and then you'll have to make a decision for which one you want more.
